A Colourful Garden

Posted by richard shaw on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, In : Image
Finding interesting rusty objects isn't very difficult. Here is some images from my garden. The colours that form through oxidisation always amaze me, deep reds, vibrant oranges, smoky yellows and rich brown tones. All make for some very colourful images. Don't forget to check out the galleries for more images.

Texture

Posted by richard shaw on Monday, September 6, 2010, In : Image
Texture is one of the attractions to me when photographing rust and oxidisation. Oxidisation is actually a very destructive process and often has a devastating effect on man made objects. This is a tractor pedal, encrusted with rust and slowly been eaten alive. I hope you like it.

Just thought I'd post some extra photos because it is my birthday. One more for the oxidised gallery and one for the urban gallerry. Both from that fateful ferry trip....

Today is my birthday, I suppose I should share some deep insightful wisdom with you, but I have none worth sharing. So instead I shall show you some of my very favourite images that were a catalyst for this whole adventure. These can be found as you might have guessed in the oxidised gallery. They were taken a year and a half ago on a ferry.....

New additions

Posted by richard shaw on Sunday, August 22, 2010,
A couple of new addition to the oxidised folder today. I like strong graphical shapes in my abstracts and these two both have this I feel. The colour and warmth is also a strong feature. They can be viewed in the Oxidised gallery too, I hope you enjoy them.

On the run

Posted by richard shaw on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, In : Image
One of the great things about rust is the shapes that occur. This is image is the result of oxidisation occurring as water ran down the side of a galvanised metal trailer.

Oxidised - Green Oil.

Posted by richard shaw on Monday, August 16, 2010, In : Image
This is an image I took a few years back now but fits well into the oxidised category. It was actually taken at Auckland Zoo. I think it has an environmental message as well as great colours with the lush green grass against the red rusting oil barrel.

About Me

Richard Shaw After being a keen photographer for many years, I have finally found my niche and the courage to share it with the world. Having been bogged down for what seems like an eternity with jobs, money and family life, I found my creativity being stifled. So as I carve out a new life and follow new paths my love of photography and my passion for interesting images is returning. Here are my visions, my apparitions of light - of shape, of colour and texture. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy capturing them.
